About the Role
Meta Reality Labs Research (RL-R) is searching for a Research Engineer focused on Detailed 3D Human Pose, Shape and Expression Estimation. As part of a highly interdisciplinary team, you will help shape the future of augmented and virtual reality by developing algorithms, datasets, and pipelines to create detailed human representations. You will work closely with a diverse group of researchers, engineers, artists, and designers to conceptualize and implement cutting-edge solutions in digital human and avatar technologies.
Responsibilities
- Drive the development of algorithms, datasets, and pipelines that convert input images into detailed human representations.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to conceptualize, build, and test novel algorithms on digital humans and avatars.
- Support the realization of research outcomes into code through reusable tools and modularized libraries.
- Engage in continuous learning and explore new technologies while embracing the challenges of innovating in this exciting field.
About the Candidate
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD degree in Computer Graphics/Vision, Machine Learning, or related fields.
- 5+ years of experience in creating 3D geometry processing, animation, or deep learning solutions for digital humans.
- 5+ years of experience in building modern deep learning frameworks and neural network architectures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven track record of development and maintenance of tools or libraries used by 20+ users.
- Experience leading software engineering projects with teams of 5+ people to completion.
- Significant contributions to open-source projects or datasets.
- Proficiency in modern Python and PyTorch, as well as C++ and CUDA for designing real-time systems.
- Knowledge in areas such as image processing, multiview systems, camera calibration, 3D pose estimation, and neural network training.
- Experience with digital double generation for high-end VFX production, games, or apps.
- Familiarity with 3D packages such as Maya, Blender, Houdini, Unreal Engine, and Unity.
- Demonstrated achievements in the form of grants, patents, or publications.
- Generation of synthetic human data for training Machine Learning models is advantageous.
