About the Role
Niantic's Security Team is seeking a Senior Security Engineer dedicated to enhancing the security of our production environment and deployments. Join us in a creative team where technical judgment and eager adaptation to new technologies are key. You will lead initiatives aimed at making our internal and user-facing services safer and more robust.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough security reviews of our platform and production environments.
- Provide consulting services to product teams, corporate IT, and security operations.
- Develop hardened in-house OS images and configurations for virtual machines and Docker/Kubernetes deployments.
- Build tooling and launch impactful efforts supporting security within engineering.
- Lead vulnerability remediation for both in-house and third-party software within production environments.
- Educate site reliability engineers and software engineers on security concerns and codify deployment practices across teams.
- Collaborate with the SRE team and engineering leadership on the rollout of security initiatives.
- Propose creative solutions to continuously enhance Niantic's security.
- Participate reliably in meetings, collaborating with cross-functional team members and stakeholders.
About the Candidate
Expectations:
- Proficiency in at least one programming language: Go, Python, or Java.
- 5+ years of experience in a global company with cloud-centric infrastructure.
- In-depth understanding of cloud technologies.
- Experience with building tooling and enhancing security measures.
- Proven strong communication and team skills within a distributed environment.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced hybrid work environment, handling stress and dynamic situations adeptly.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with multi-cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud).
- Background in software development or project management.
