About the Role
The GenAI Speech team is looking for a Research Scientist (Speech and Language). In this role, you will work on large language models (LLMs) with native support for processing, understanding, and generating audio and speech alongside other modalities such as text or vision. Your responsibilities include leading research to advance audio and speech technologies using LLMs applied to a wide array of Meta production use cases, working towards ambitious research and production goals, while identifying important intermediate milestones.

- Work towards long-term ambitious research and production goals, while identifying intermediate milestones.
- Influence progress of relevant research communities by producing publications.
About the Candidate
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. and established track record of leading and/or contributing to influential research, as evidenced by high-impact publications at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g., Interspeech, ICASSP, ASRU, SLT, NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, ACL).
- Experience in generative AI research, especially in building and optimizing large language models for audio/speech processing and understanding, computer vision, and/or natural language understanding.
- Ability to communicate research effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience in leading both theoretical and empirical research.
- Familiarity with one or more deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of work experience in a faculty, industry, or government research position with an emphasis on AI research.
- Experience in building large language models specifically for audio/speech processing, understanding, and generation.
- Proven track record in driving original scholarship in collaboration with a team.
- Development and debugging experience in C/C++, Python, PyTorch.
