About the Role

Harnham is seeking a Technical Lead Machine Learning Engineer to help develop and scale machine learning-powered products. This role involves designing, building, and deploying end-to-end machine learning models, with a major focus on ad optimization and personalized recommendation systems. The candidate will be responsible for developing ML pipelines, executing high-impact product strategies in partnership with product and R&D teams, and leading experimentation in a data-rich environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deploy end-to-end machine learning models focused on ad optimization and personalization use cases.
  • Develop ML pipelines and production systems to leverage behavioral signals for user value and ROI.
  • Collaborate with product and R&D to execute ML-driven strategies.
  • Lead experimentation and model evaluation.
  • Contribute to the scalable infrastructure using tools like Airflow and Spark.
  • Work cross-functionally to launch and refine ML products.
  • Stay updated with emerging ML techniques in recommendation systems and behavioral modeling.

About the Candidate

The preferred candidate will possess an MSc or PhD in a STEM field and proven experience in deploying machine learning systems commercially, particularly in AdTech or recommender systems. Key requirements include:

  • Strong background in personalization and targeting
  • Experience with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Bazel) and data infrastructure (e.g., Spark, SQL, Scala, Python)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD best practices for production monitoring
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (like AWS and Databricks) and ML tools (such as MLFlow, TensorFlow, Kubernetes)
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with a proactive approach.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $300,000 to $350,000, complemented by meaningful equity and a financial upside. Harnham offers a fully remote working environment, with hybrid options available in major cities such as Boston and the San Francisco Bay Area.
