About the Role

Java is indispensable for the daily operations of the Belastingdienst, and it is essential to have the right tools at our disposal. Thus, as a Java Ontwikkelstraat Specialist, you will work from Apeldoorn and at home to help your Java colleagues perform their work better, thereby improving the services of the Belastingdienst.

The Java OntwikkelStraat (JOS) is positioned at GV/Generieke Ondersteunende Services and aims to deliver value faster and more reliably using Java on both the classic and container platforms. As a Java OntwikkelStraat Specialist, you will be overseeing technical developments that help keep the organization running. This role is significant as you will engage with a scrum team that is self-managing and self-regulating. You will accomplish this from Apeldoorn and your home.

Key Responsibilities

In your role, you will:

  • Develop and manage Control Test Applications to assess the offerings of the Java OntwikkelStraat.
  • Create guidelines, recipes, and tutorials to support our services.
  • Execute Life Cycle Management on components and tools that support the Java OntwikkelStraat.
  • Conduct research on the applicability of new components and tools, and provide consultancy to Java developers.
  • Prepare for and guide migrations, such as from Java SE 8 to 17, and from Java EE 7 to Jakarta EE 10.
  • Assist in the transformation of Java monoliths to cloud-native services on the container platform.
  • Address Jira Service Desk tickets and help organize JOS days for trainees.

About the Candidate

You should fit in this role if you:

  • Possess a master's degree level of thinking and working.
  • Have considerable work experience as a Java developer in multidisciplinary, self-managing, and self-regulating Agile (scrum) teams.
  • Work well under pressure, demonstrate careful, structured, and solution-oriented work ethics.
  • Have the strategic insight necessary to think along and make decisions regarding the offerings of the Java OntwikkelStraat.
