About the Role
Visa is looking for a Site Reliability Engineering - Sr. Consultant to provide support for Technical Hadoop related issues impacting VCA data scientists daily. This hybrid role allows employees to work remotely and in the office, alternating time as needed. Key responsibilities include:
- Leveraging knowledge of Hadoop and related tools for issue resolution.
- Recommending system changes to improve efficiency based on system activity and user logs.
- Directing team members on performance tuning and optimization strategies.
- Troubleshooting complex issues and coordinating across tech teams.
- Creating reports to identify metrics and proactively address performance issues.
- Engaging in knowledge-sharing initiatives within the team.
- Preparing standard configurations for varied workloads to optimize system health.
- Continuously learning about changing data science jobs to improve cluster utilization.
About the Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess:
- 8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or similar experience with an Advanced Degree.
- Hands-on experience as a Hadoop system engineer.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex production problems.
- Familiarity with data pipelines created using PySpark, Hive, and Airflow.
- Experience with performance tuning on Hadoop platforms.
- Excellent communication skills, adaptable to fast-paced environments.
