About the Role:

A leading software consultancy is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join its Central Government team. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex and mission-critical projects, developing bespoke software solutions that enhance national security and operational efficiency. The role operates in a hybrid capacity, allowing work from offices in Bristol, Cheltenham, or Manchester, with regular client site visits required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test software solutions in an Agile environment.
  • Utilise open-source libraries and components to build high-quality, secure systems.
  • Implement continuous integration pipelines using GitLab to ensure software quality.
  • Deploy solutions to public (AWS and Azure) and private cloud environments.
  • Engage regularly with clients to gather requirements and deliver tailored solutions.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Strong expertise in back-end development (Java, Spring Boot) or full-stack development (Java & JavaScript).
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, JavaScript, or React.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Previous consultancy experience is beneficial but not essential.

Security Clearance Requirement:

Due to the nature of this role, candidates must be eligible for UK security clearance. This requires British citizenship and at least five years of continuous residency in the UK.
