About the Role

ING is currently enhancing its analytics capabilities in Cloud to become more data-driven. As a Chapter Lead Data Engineer, you will help develop the data-driven products that the Analytics Engineering (AE) organization builds. You will work as part of a distributed and multicultural team, employing agile, lean, and design thinking methodologies. This role involves a combination of architectural design and coaching responsibilities.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop, coach, and mentor teams of Data Engineers from various technological backgrounds.
  • Lead teams to drive results while interacting with senior-level stakeholders.
  • Explain complex subjects clearly and maintain a friendly, approachable demeanor.
  • Stay updated with the latest technological advancements and introduce them to team and projects.
  • Facilitate ING’s transition into a truly data-driven bank.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of data manipulation and transformation (e.g., SQL).
  • Hands-on experience building complex data pipelines, ETL processes.
  • Experience managing and developing distributed systems for batch and streaming data (e.g., S3/Spark, Kafka/Flink).
  • Proficiency in programming with languages such as Python and either Java, Scala, Kotlin, or Golang.
  • Familiarity with SQL and noSQL databases.
  • Experience with automation tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD).
