About the Role
Join the Group Digital Team at BME as an Azure Sr. Data Engineer and play a pivotal role in driving our digital transformation. You will contribute to developing BME’s digital backbone with a focus on building and optimizing data platforms using cutting-edge tools like Azure Databricks and Apache Spark.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Lake Development: Build and maintain scalable, secure Data Lakes using Azure Databricks and Delta Lake.
- Source Integration: Establish connections to diverse systems via APIs, ODBC, Event Hubs, and sFTP protocols.
- ETL/ELT Pipelines: Design and optimize data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Apache Spark to handle large-scale, real-time data.
- Medallion Architecture: Implement Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers using formats like Delta, Parquet, and JSON for data transformation.
- Data Modeling: Develop and optimize data models using star schema and slowly changing dimensions for analytics and operations.
- Data Governance: Ensure robust data security with Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and Unity Catalog.
- Performance Optimization: Tune pipelines, optimize queries, and implement CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
- Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, IT teams, and business stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions.
About the Candidate
Experience: At least 5 years as an Azure Data Engineer in complex enterprise environments.
Technical Expertise: Proficiency with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, and Azure Storage. Strong skills in SQL, Python, and data modeling techniques. Familiarity with data formats like Parquet and JSON. Experience with AI/ML model management on Azure Databricks.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field. Certifications (Preferred): Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
Language Skills: Fluency in English is mandatory.
