About the Role
TalentCo is thrilled to be working with a VC-backed AI infrastructure startup building the future of multimodal data systems. Having recently raised a substantial Seed round, they are looking to hire an exceptional backend-focused Senior Rust Engineer. You’ll play a key part in designing and scaling core systems for a new class of analytical databases purpose-built for high-throughput, multimodal time-series data. Working in Rust, you’ll architect performant, scalable systems that handle everything from ingestion and indexing to complex query execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build a cloud-native analytical database system optimised for sparse, wide, and multimodal logs.
- Work with technologies like Rust, Apache Arrow, and Datafusion to build scalable, low-latency systems.
- Collaborate on every part of the stack—from data ingestion and indexing to query planning and optimisation.
- Build observability, reliability, and scalability into a product designed for demanding data applications.
- Operate in a high-agency environment alongside experienced engineers and founders, helping shape product and tech strategy.
About the Candidate (Expectations and Nice to Have Skills)
We want to hear from you if:
- You have 3+ years of experience in writing asynchronous Rust in production environments.
- Experience at another early-stage startup, within Big Tech, or building data infrastructure tools is advantageous.
- You have a deep understanding of systems programming and performance engineering.
- You’ve built scalable, data-intensive infrastructure and can navigate the entire stack.
- You have experience deploying and operating backend systems in the cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- You speak fluent or business-level English and are a great collaborator who thrives in tight-knit, remote-first teams.
