As a (Senior) Backend Engineer - Ruby on Rails, you will design and develop reusable and reliable Ruby code. Your responsibilities also include maintaining APIs for use by frontends, external systems, or for internal system communication. You will actively monitor running systems, help identify bugs and bottlenecks, and assist in designing solutions for issues that arise. In collaboration with product managers, you will help develop existing architectures and implement new functionalities.
About the Candidate
Your talents and experiences include: a successfully completed bachelor's/master's degree in computer science or a comparable qualification, 3 years of professional experience in software development, and a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Rails developer (5/3 for senior roles). You should have solid skills in OOP and TDD, an understanding of fundamental design and security principles for scalable and performant application architectures in high-traffic website environments, and detailed knowledge of the Ruby on Rails framework (6/7) and corresponding Ruby libraries (RSpec, Sidekiq, ...).
Experience with the design and implementation of APIs (ideally REST and GraphQL) and relational databases (preferably MySQL/Percona) as well as in-memory databases (Redis) is essential. Basic knowledge of frontend technologies and frameworks (TypeScript, ideally Vue.js/Nuxt) and headless CMS systems (Contentful) is a plus.
