About the Job

Tembo is on the lookout for a passionate Senior Ruby Engineer to join the savings team. Following the successful launch of our Cash ISA, we are experiencing rapid growth and need to launch new savings products. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Service Creation: Designing and developing resilient backend services in Ruby.
  • Feature Development: Leading product features' full lifecycle while ensuring data accuracy and security.
  • Maintenance and Optimization: Monitoring system performance and proactively handling system uptime.
  • Bug Identification and Resolution: Diagnosing complex production issues in real-world settings.
  • Code Reviews and Best Practices: Promoting clean, maintainable Ruby code.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working with product managers, QA, and design for consistent business value.
  • Technical Investigations: Evaluating technologies to improve system reliability.
  • Open Standards: Supporting initiatives around observability.

About You

  • Experience: At least 5 years in software development with a focus on Ruby on Rails.
  • Payment Systems: Experience with payment processing and real money transactions is essential.
  • Communication: Excellent collaboration skills capable of working in remote, cross-functional teams.
  • Flexibility: Adaptable and ready to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Acceptance of Tech Debt: Know when to incur and pay off technical debt for business value.
