About the Role
Meta is looking for a Research Scientist Intern to contribute to the project of creating next-generation hyper-realistic avatars known as Codec Avatars. These avatars enable natural remote communication through eye contact and subtle expressions. You will be part of a full-stack team focusing on applied research areas including computer vision, machine learning, and natural language processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execution of algorithms in computer vision, machine learning, computer graphics, sensor fusion or natural language processing.
- Design of user studies and experiments.
- Collaborate with engineers and researchers across disciplines.
- Communicate research agendas, progress, and results effectively.
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrolled in or pursuing a PhD in EE/CS, Applied Math or related STEM fields.
- Experience in areas such as computer vision, computer graphics, robotics, or machine learning.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Proficiency in C++ or Python and ML frameworks like PyTorch or Tensorflow.
- Must have valid work authorization for the country of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Achievements in research demonstrated by publications or patents in leading journals/conferences.
- Proven software engineering experience through internships or contributions in open source.
- Experience with high-volume multi-sensor data processing and deep learning model optimization.
- Familiarity with Machine Learning for 3D data and natural language processing.
- Interpersonal skills to work in a cross-functional team.
- Intent to resume your degree program post-internship.
