About the Role
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is seeking a Database Developer/DBA who will play a crucial role in the migration of existing DB2 databases to PostgreSQL in a GCP environment. The candidate will be responsible for conducting assessments of current databases, developing detailed migration plans, and executing data migration strategies to ensure data integrity during the transition. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and database usage patterns.
- Convert DB2 schemas, tables, views, and stored procedures to PostgreSQL equivalents.
- Optimize and fine-tune PostgreSQL databases for performance and scalability post-migration.
- Create and maintain scripts for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
- Document migration processes, configurations, and settings.
About the Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Strong experience in database migration and familiarity with DB2 and PostgreSQL.
- Aptitude for creating and executing comprehensive testing plans to ensure data accuracy.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to perform performance testing.
- Capability to provide training and support to team members on the new database environment.
