Product Engineer II - ArcGIS JavaScript 3D API

About the Role
This is an opportunity to pursue your passion for computer graphics topics such as globe rendering, 3D GIS, digital twins, and the metaverse. At the Esri R&D Center Zurich, we are looking for a result-driven product engineer who will help us to grow and maintain the ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript. Our SDK empowers web developers and geoinformatic engineers around the globe to build compelling 3D scenes and mapping applications. Join us to push the state of the art in browser-based 3D graphics and GIS.
Responsibilities
- Work together with our UX/UI designers, engineers, and computer graphics enthusiasts on developing new 3D GIS capabilities.
- Create compelling product samples, blogs, and documentation to showcase new features.
- Advocate for innovative cartography and powerful geospatial workflows throughout the development cycle from requirements to release.
- Write and maintain JavaScript test applications representing our API users and establish example 2D/3D GIS datasets.
- Reproduce, report, and manage bugs found through in-house testing or reported by customers.
- Collaborate closely with other Zurich teams and our colleagues at the California headquarters.
Requirements
- 2+ years of industry experience building geospatial, 3D, or web applications.
- Solid with JavaScript, ideally TypeScript, CSS, and HTML.
- Web GIS experience in ArcGIS or other geospatial software.
- Knowledge of the agile software development process and methodologies.
- Good intuition for the aesthetics and technical aspects of information visualization.
- Passion for quality, detail-oriented, and knowledge on how to break software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor's in cartography, geography, surveying, computer science, or a related field.
- Existing work authorization for Switzerland.
Recommended Qualifications
- Experience in quality assurance, test strategies, test automation, and developing test scripts.
- Experience writing technical documentation.
- Background in 3D modeling/rendering.
- Masters in cartography, geography, surveying, computer science, or a related field.
