Cognitive Group is seeking a Lead AWS DevOps Engineer that will play a crucial role in driving innovative DevOps strategies at scale, which will directly impact critical national services. This position is part of a global consultancy specializing in cloud transformation programmes within highly regulated sectors. The role will require you to lead multi-disciplinary teams utilizing cutting-edge AWS technology, while also shaping best practices and influencing the strategic direction of the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of secure, high-availability cloud solutions across multiple AWS regions.
- Design and enforce cloud governance and automation standards (IaC, CI/CD, cost control, FinOps).
- Collaborate with architects, developers, and security teams to align delivery with business and compliance objectives.
- Implement security-first DevOps using tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and CloudWatch.
- Lead threat detection, logging, and incident response strategies across environments.
- Define DevSecOps practices and mentor junior engineers in modern cloud security and automation.
About the Candidate
The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership skills in cloud security, especially within AWS, and a deep understanding of compliance frameworks like ISO 27001, GDPR, and SOC2. You will need extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation, as well as knowledge of container security and orchestration using EKS, ECS, and Docker.
Additional skills include hands-on experience with CI/CD tooling that integrates security into pipelines (like Jenkins or GitHub Actions) and proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash) for automation and infrastructure management. Bonus points for AWS certifications, Kubernetes experience, and exposure to FinOps.
