About the Role
At Meta Reality Labs, we're developing the input technologies that will define the future of the virtual and augmented reality computing platforms. We are looking for a skilled and motivated research scientist to join our machine perception team. You will work collaboratively with research scientists, software engineers, and hardware engineers to design technical solutions in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment.
Responsibilities
- Work with researchers to develop input architectures that combine vision and language.
- Design and prototype interactive experiences, evaluating them through user research.
- Design and prototype data collection systems to accelerate machine learning.
- Collaborate across teams to advance concepts throughout the product pipeline, including hardware, software, data collection, and machine learning.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently obtaining a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree in relevant technical fields, or equivalent practical experience, completed prior to joining.
- Experience developing solutions for human-computer interaction, computer vision, or natural language processing.
- Proficiency with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience designing data collection protocols and quality control.
- Innovative skills to extend research ideas into new problem domains.
- Must have work authorization in Switzerland at the time of hire, and maintain it during employment.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and cross-group collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Research experience in end-to-end speech recognition or real-time statistical text decoding.
- Proven success in transferring research technology into commercial products.
- Experience with joint hardware-software development and rapid prototyping.
- A strong track record of impactful results, including publications at top-tier conferences.
- Demonstrated software engineering skills through internships, work experiences, or contributions to open source projects.
