General
APG Pharma, a division of Applied Materials focused on building analytics for Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, is looking for an Operations Research Engineer. The engineer will provide Operations Research or Data Science expertise as well as experience with informatics systems commonly found in the Pharma and Biopharma Industries. In this client-focused role, you will support the team in innovating and improving pharma manufacturing through scheduling using optimization and simulation approaches.
You will work closely with our sales and engineering teams, in addition to external process engineers and manufacturing scientists, to convey a technical message to a business audience. Responsibilities will involve supporting both pre- and post- sales engagements, performing tasks from supporting a technical sales strategy to software installs and process model design.
Qualifications
We are looking for a person with the ability to work independently, strong communication skills, and a passion for supporting our pharmaceutical clients in delivering medicines on-time, to patients who need it. The successful candidate must have at least 3 years of experience in the pharma/biopharma industry or as a process engineer with planning and scheduling expertise. Requirement includes:
- Proven ability to interact with clients, and explain technical details clearly.
- Experience in processing large data sets, developing optimization methodologies, and using optimization tools like Pyomo, GAMS, Gurobi.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, C++ is preferred. Additionally, knowledge of statistical and mathematical modeling environments (e.g., R, Python) is beneficial.
Additional Information
The job posting is located in the UK and candidates will predominantly work from home while reporting to the regional office as needed. Applicants from Ireland are welcome to apply, provided they are able to commute to our offices in Co. Kildare. The position may require travel up to 20% across Europe and the USA.
