About the Role
Orica Digital Solution is a global technology business specializing in the mining and civil infrastructure markets. We are seeking an experienced Backend Developer - Python who will support IoT applications impacting safety and productivity. This role focuses on building and maintaining a cloud data store and API for ground radar data used in geotechnical monitoring applications. The position is hybrid, based in our Vancouver office, and involves the following responsibilities:
- Develop data processing systems for GIS and scientific applications.
- Collaborate with product managers to understand geotechnical monitoring workflows.
- Write clean, documented, and modular code, adhering to best practices.
- Work with the DevOps team to maintain cloud-based infrastructure.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and contribute to technical discussions.
About the Candidate
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in Python backend and API development.
- Hands-on experience with scientific development using Python libraries (e.g., numpy, zarr).
- Experience with cloud data storage solutions like S3 and NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and infrastructure as code (IaC).
