About the Role

BWI GmbH is seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer (m/w/d) to drive the digital future of our nation. As an IT service provider for the federal government, we offer comprehensive IT services from a single source. With over 7,000 employees, we are one of the ten largest IT service providers in Germany.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Further development and operation of our software development platform and integration into the system landscape of BWI and our customers.
  • Evaluation, procurement, and provision of additional development tools for integration into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Securing the development platform according to IT standard and other requirements, as well as creating information security concepts.
  • Supporting and assisting project teams in an agile DevOps model (Secure Software Supply Chain).
  • Development of new and existing automation and maintenance scripts.
  • Providing impetus for optimizing cooperation within the team and with all stakeholders.

About the Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An IT-related degree or comparable education is mandatory.
  • At least six years of relevant professional experience after graduation.
  • Strong knowledge of deployment automation with Ansible and administration of Linux server systems.
  • Extensive experience with container and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Podman, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD toolchain tools like GitLab, GitLab-CI, SonarQube, Nexus, Harbor.
  • Knowledge of at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Ruby) and a command-line interpreter (e.g., Bash, Powershell).
  • Good security knowledge and hardening of server systems according to IT security principles.
  • Good knowledge of Identity & Access Management, ideally with KeyCloak.
  • Proficiency in software development is an advantage.
  • Fluent German and good English language skills in spoken and written form are mandatory.
