About the Role

As a Founding Software Engineer at TekRek, you will be instrumental in shaping our flagship AI receptionist product. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Architecting, building, and iterating on core features of the product.
  • Leading front-end development of the customer dashboard for real-time configuration and monitoring.
  • Designing and implementing scalable REST/GraphQL backend APIs.
  • Building AI-driven pipelines for call transcription, NLP, and summarization using serverless functions.
  • Owning data architecture—designing schemas, managing migrations, and enabling data analytics.
  • Collaborating with founders and early customers to turn real-world needs into intuitive product features.

About the Candidate

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in building and shipping web applications, with both front-end and back-end strengths.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript along with experience in a modern front-end framework (React, Vue, or Angular).
  • Solid knowledge of server-side programming with any language (Python, Go, Ruby, Java, etc.).
  • Experience in building REST or GraphQL APIs and designing relational schemas.
  • A collaborative spirit and the ability to work autonomously with non-technical stakeholders.
  • A CS degree or equivalent hands-on experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in AI/ML features, particularly in NLP or voice technology.
  • Familiarity with early-stage startups and ownership of product areas.
  • Experience with technologies such as Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, PostgreSQL, Python, AWS (Lambda, S3, EC2, DynamoDB), or equivalents in GCP.
  • Based in Ontario, Canada, and authorized to work there.
