About the Role

We are seeking a creative bilingual backend engineer to join the team behind CoCounsel. You will help build applications that interact with state-of-the-art Large Language Models (LLMs) that deliver cutting-edge and time-saving solutions to attorneys in Europe. Your role will involve orchestrating LLM-driven experiences, developing Python code, and writing German prose prompts tailored for the legal domain.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Python code that interacts with data sources and services such as APIs and SQL databases.
  • Write, test, and iterate German prose prompts for the LLM based on legal domain knowledge to ensure accuracy and context.
  • Liaise with legal professionals to gather and understand requirements for our applications.
  • Integrate LLMs into multi-step systems, optimizing their performance as necessary.

About You

The ideal candidate is a bilingual software engineer who can write high-quality Python and has solid experience working with APIs. You should possess domain knowledge in law, whether as a JD-holder or through experience as a paralegal or courtroom interpreter. Proficiency in written and spoken German is a must, along with:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a software engineering environment, preferably at a startup.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Creative writing capabilities.
