Principal Engineer - Mobile

About the Role

As a Principal Engineer - Mobile at Xero, you will face diverse challenges each day, primarily focusing on championing engineering practices that empower the delivery team to build quality software that delivers customer value.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Team Leads, senior developers, and quality engineers to define technical practices for your pod.
• Build and nurture strong relationships with supporting disciplines including architecture, security, infrastructure, and quality across Xero.
• Coach and mentor engineers within the pods to improve their technical decision-making.
• Define and measure the maturity of the engineering practices within the teams.
• Identify, quantify, and collaborate on obstacles that hinder development teams from delivering effectively.
• Work closely with Product Management and Product Architecture to assess solution feasibility and develop high-level estimations.
• Advocate for metric collection and informed decision-making processes.

Technology and Operations

• Aid in implementing new tools and processes to elevate cross-team performance.
• Research and explore advanced technologies to address current and future challenges.
• Stay connected with the Xero engineering community to align with Xero’s engineering vision.
• Support Engineering Managers and Team Leads in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new team members.
