About the Role
We are looking for a Staff Applied Scientist to join our Applied AI organization at Datadog. In this role, you will report directly to the Director of Engineering for Applied Science. Your scope and impact will span the entire applied science organization. As a Staff Applied Scientist, you will assist in the design, implementation, and scalability of new and existing Datadog features. You will work to answer pivotal questions regarding feasibility, efficiency, and business opportunities for new data science frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Identify high-impact business opportunities through data exploration and project bootstrapping.
- Lead the hands-on development, productionisation, and operation of machine learning models and pipelines at scale, addressing both batch and real-time use cases.
- Collaborate closely with applied scientists and engineers to innovate Datadog’s features.
- Mentor applied scientists, promoting best practices and strong technical decisions.
- Engage actively with the applied science and engineering community to fortify Datadog's reputation.
About the Candidate
We are searching for individuals with:
- 8+ years of industry experience in relevant areas (applied scientist, data scientist, ML engineer, etc.) and a Master’s or PhD in pertinent fields.
- Proven experience in designing and launching applied science products that address business challenges.
- Strong understanding of the Machine Learning lifecycle and its best practices.
- Proficient coding skills in languages like Scala or Python, embracing software engineering principles.
- Knowledge of data engineering practices and technologies such as Spark.
- A product-oriented mindset focused on user experience while developing solutions.
